There is perhaps no other jazz musician in Pittsburgh who has inspired as many young and up and coming musicians. There is perhaps no other jazz musician in Pittsburgh that has accomplished so much on the national stage. Roger Humphries, the drummer on the four quintessential Horace Silver albums of the 1960s, started his own band, the RH Factor, in the early 1970s. They’re still going. And while Roger’s career has included so much teaching of the next generation of jazz musicians at the University of Pittsburgh and CAPA, he remains one of the best live musicians and drummers in the country.
